The Columbus Police Department is requesting the public’s assistance in identifying an unknown male whose remains were recovered in 2018, as the case remains an active and ongoing investigation.

The Property Crimes Unit reports the following enforcement activity for the months of December 2025 and January 2026. During this period, investigators cleared 71 cases and arrested 23 individuals, resulting in a total of 205 charges. These totals do not include the results from three Porch Pirate Details conducted in December 2025.

Two men were arrested on charges related to human trafficking and drug trafficking following a multi-month investigation conducted in coordination with federal law enforcement partners.

The Columbus Police Department conducted three separate porch pirate operations over the past several weeks as the holiday shopping season ramps up. These operations took place on three different days at various locations throughout Columbus and were launched after CPD received multiple reports from residents whose packages were being stolen from their homes.

The Columbus Police Department is reporting a decrease in crime as the year comes to a close. From January 1 to December 2, 2025, the city reported 1,022 fewer Part 1 crimes than during the same period in 2024. Violent crimes show a 29% reduction for the year.

The Columbus Police Department’s Fugitive Unit carried out a warrant roundup on Thursday, November 20, 2025, with support from Special Operations, Investigative Services, Patrol, and the Department of Community Supervision (DCS). The detail cleared 15 felony warrants and nine misdemeanor warrants.
