Employee Assistance Program
Columbus Consolidated Government has partnered with the Pastoral Institute to establish an Employee Assistance Program (EAP) which provides counseling services to employees at no cost.

What insurance does EAP accept?
An EAP is like insurance and can only be used through the Pastoral Institute.
What type of issues are normally addressed during these visits?
Depression, Anxiety, Stress, Grief and loss, Family issues, Trauma, Children, Testing, and much more.
Cost
What are the costs?
EAP visits are at no cost to the employee.
Are the visits transferable?
No. They are not transferable, but your employer can agree to provide more on a per case basis.
Dependent Coverage
Dependents are children under age 26 or a spouse.
Do my family members take away from my available free visits?
Only the six visits they are allotted. You will still receive six unless you utilize them in a family session.
If my family member needs counseling, how many visits can they use?
Six visits individually or up to 12 family sessions that include you.
Does the Pastoral Institute provide child services?
Yes. The Sarah T. Butler Children's Center provides counseling, psychological evaluations, and testing for children ages one and a half years old and up. A sensory room is used therapeutically.
Confidentiality
Are the visits confidential?
Yes. Your employer will never know that you have utilized your visits.
Does my employer need to be notified that I am using this benefit?
No. It is strictly confidential.
Availability
The Pastoral Institute is in Columbus, Georgia, but we have Affiliate Providers in other cities and states.
Are in person meetings the only option for counseling?
No. We also provide in-person visits as well as telehealth (telephone or video).
If my child needs to use a visit and they are away at college, do they need to come to Columbus for counseling?
No. We will find them an Affiliate Provider in their city.
How can I contact my EAP if I need services after hours and/or on weekends and holidays?
Our on call answering service is available 24 hours. If it is an emergency, please call 911.
