Public Meeting on Liberty Theatre & Liberty District Vision

[Columbus, Georgia]  - The Columbus Consolidated Government will host a public meeting to discuss the future of the historic Liberty Theatre and the surrounding Liberty District. The Meeting will take place on Monday, April 6, 2026 from 5:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. in the City Council Chambers, 3111 Citizens Way.

This meeting will bring together key stakeholders, including the Mayor and City Council, to hear presentations from both the Liberty Theatre & Cultural Arts Center Advisory Board and the Liberty District group, led by Rev. Richard Jessie.

The purpose of the meeting is to provide both groups with an opportunity to share their respective plans and vision for the Liberty Theatre and Liberty District, while also encouraging meaningful community engagement and fostering broader public support.

Community Members are encouraged to attend, learn more about the proposed initiatives, and participate in the ongoing conversation about the future of this important cultural and historic asset.

Public Meeting Scheduled for Proposed Buena Vista Road Rezoning

[Columbus, Georgia] – A public meeting has been scheduled to provide residents with an opportunity to learn more about and discuss a proposed rezoning request for property located at 5306 Buena Vista Road.

Integrity Development Partners, LLC has submitted a request to rezone the property from SFR2 (Single-Family Residential 2) to RMF1 (Residential Multi-Family 1). The proposed rezoning would allow the property to be developed for multifamily residential use.

The meeting will provide an opportunity for residents to ask questions, review details of the proposal, and share feedback.

Grand Opening & Ribbon Cutting Announced for Midtown Children’s Bicycle Playground at Dinglewood Park

[Columbus, Georgia] – The Columbus Consolidated Government, in partnership with community organizations and local cycling advocates, invites the public to attend the Grand Opening and Ribbon Cutting Ceremony for the Midtown Children’s Bicycle Playground at Dinglewood Park.

The celebration will take place on Wednesday, March 25, 2026, at 4:30 p.m. at Dinglewood Park, located at 13th Street and Warren Williams Road.

The event will include several family-friendly activities and community partners, including:

• Free frozen treats for children provided by The Icee Girl

• An inaugural ride demonstration by the Georgia Cycling Trail Rangers and Bike Racing Team youth

• Free bicycle helmet giveaways provided by SAFE Kids and Columbus Parks and Recreation

City leaders, community partners, and residents are encouraged to attend and celebrate the opening of this exciting new recreational space for Columbus families.

The event is free and open to the public, and families are encouraged to bring their bicycles and helmets to participate in the celebration.

Columbus Civic Center Celebrates Georgia Cities Week with Kids Bash

[Columbus, Georgia] – The Columbus Civic Center is proud to celebrate Georgia Cities Week with a fun-filled, family-friendly event, Kids Bash, taking place on Saturday, April 25, 2026, from 12:00 pm to 3:00 pm at the Columbus Civic Center.

Kids Bash will bring the community together for an afternoon dedicated to children and families, featuring a variety of exciting activities and entertainment. Guests can enjoy bouncy houses, kids’ entertainment, interactive games, food trucks, face painting, appearances by mascots, and participation from local children’s organizations, creating a lively and engaging atmosphere for attendees of all ages

. As part of Georgia Cities Week, the event highlights the City of Columbus’ commitment to creating engaging experiences for local families while showcasing organizations and groups that support youth development and community involvement.

Admission is free for children, parents, and guardians, making Kids Bash an accessible and welcoming event for families across the community.

Mayor’s Commission on Health to Host Health Resource Fair on March 7

[Columbus, Georgia] – The Mayor’s Commission on Health, in partnership with The Food Mill, will host the Health Resource Fair on Saturday, March 7, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at The Food Mill Shared Kitchen, 3720 5th Avenue, Columbus, Georgia 31904.

This community-focused event is designed to increase access to healthcare services, promote preventative care, and connect residents with vital health and wellness resources. Multiple healthcare organizations will be on-site providing free medical screenings, tests, and educational materials. Please note that there will be a cost associated with certain services, including vaccines and STD testing.

To ensure accessibility for all residents, METRA will provide transportation to and from the event. Transportation vouchers are available at the METRA Transfer Center, 814 Linwood Boulevard, Columbus, Georgia 31901.
