Arrest Made in Homicide Investigation at Motel 6

 Wednesday, November 1, 2023

On Tuesday, October 31, 2023 around 6 p.m., Columbus Police Officers responded to the 3000 block of Victory Drive (Motel 6) in reference to a possible deceased person inside one of the rooms. Upon approaching the scene, officers detected the odor of decomposition. When officers made entry into the room, they found a deceased female (later identified as Christina Richardson, 37) who had been shot.

Murder of Casadarius McGhee

 Tuesday, October 31, 2023

On Monday, October 30, 2023 at 9:33 a.m., members of the Columbus Police Department’s Patrol Division responded to the 1000 block of Adair Avenue. Upon arrival, officers found an unresponsive Black male (later identified as Casadarius McGhee, 14) near the pathway between 9th Street and River Homes Apartments.

Two Injured in Party Shooting, Search for Suspects

On Sunday, October 29, 2023 at 12:38 a.m., Columbus Police officers responded to the 1600 block of South Lumpkin Road (Skirtz) in reference to a shooting. Responding officers discovered a male and female, both 19 years old, suffering from gunshot wounds.

Man Killed in Clover Lane Shooting

On Tuesday, October 25, 2023 at 12:01 a.m., Columbus Police officers responded to the 2500 block of Clover Lane in reference to a shooting. Responding officers found a Black male (later identified as Frank Bell, 50) lying on the ground suffering from gunshot wounds.

Abducted Children Found Safe in South Georgia

On Sunday, October 15, 2023 around 12:45 p.m., detectives from the Columbus Police Department’s Adult and Youth Services Unit responded to a report of the abduction of an 11-year-old and 4-year-old from 7310 Veterans Parkway (Burger King) by an unknown person. Detectives quickly initiated their investigation and gathered information, including a detailed vehicle description. As a result, an Amber Alert was issued to help locate the missing children.

Operation Voorhees Detail

The Columbus Police Department, in conjunction with the Georgia State Patrol and the Muscogee County Sheriff’s Office, conducted “Operation Voorhees” on Friday, October 13, 2023. This operation was designed to target high-crime areas, increase police presence, reduce criminal activity, and take known criminals off the street.

Arrest Made in Murder of Willie Foster

On September 30, 2023 at 12:11 a.m., Columbus Police officers responded to the 1200 block of Veterans Parkway (Zelmo’s) concerning a male who claimed to have killed someone. Officers then discovered a deceased Black male (later identified as Willie Foster, 47) in the 1100 block of 1st Avenue (Trinity Episcopal Church). EMS arrived and could not resuscitate him.
