TWO ARRESTED IN PIGGLY WIGGLY ARMED ROBBERY

On March 11, 2023 at 11:51 p.m., Columbus Police Officers responded to the 4900 block of River Road (Piggly
Wiggly) concerning an armed robbery of the business. Responding officers spoke with the night manager, Christian
Barajas, who stated an unknown male entered the business, pointed a gun at him, and got away with an undetermined
amount of cash.

CAR CRASHES INTO FIRE STATION, DRIVER ARRESTED

On Wednesday, March 15, 2023 at 1:55 a.m., Columbus Police Officers responded to the 4600 block of Warm Springs
Road (Fire Station 11) in reference to an accident. Responding officers discovered a vehicle that had crashed into the
fire station building, which sustained minor damage.

ARREST MADE IN DEADLY HIT-AND-RUN INVESTIGATION

 Wednesday, March 15, 2023

On Thursday, March 9, 2023 between 3:30-4:30 a.m., the Columbus Police Department’s Motor Squad was called to the scene of a pedestrian fatality. The victim, Robert Carter, 34, was found on Macon Road at I-185. He had been struck by a vehicle and killed. Motor Squad Investigators later determined that this may not have been an accident.

REBROADCAST: HIT-AND-RUN INVESTIGATION

On August 21, 2022 around 11:11 p.m., our officers were dispatched to Veterans Parkway near Neill Drive in reference to a pedestrian who had been hit by a vehicle. During the investigation, our officers found that Eufracio Perez Robelero was crossing Veterans Parkway when he was struck by a vehicle – resulting in his death.

MURDER SUSPECT WANTED IN MOTEL 6 SHOOTING

 Thursday, March 9, 2023

Investigators in the Columbus Police Department’s Violent Crimes Unit have issued arrest warrants for Jerimiah Walker, 19. He is suspected of shooting and killing Michael Carter, Sr., Michael Carter, Jr., and Tonya Carter last month at a local hotel. A 4-year-old was also injured in that shooting. Walker is wanted for three counts of Murder and two counts of Aggravated Assault. He is considered armed and dangerous.

TWO FEMALES FOUND DECEASED ON CLAY STREET

On Tuesday, March 7, 2023 around 11:35 a.m., Columbus Police Officers responded to the 3000 block of Clay Street concerning a shooting. Responding officers found two deceased females (later identified as Juantonja Richmond, 52 and Ronisha Anderson, 51) lying in the front yard of a residence with gunshot wounds.

MURDER OF JAMES MCTYRE, JR.

 Sunday, February 26, 2023

On Sunday, February 26, 2023 at 6:12 a.m., Columbus Police Officers responded to the 2100 block of Wynnton Road (China Inn) concerning a vehicle crash. Upon arrival, they found the driver (later identified as James McTyre, Jr., 66) unresponsive. Further investigation revealed that McTyre, Jr. had multiple gunshot wounds and died from his injuries.

MAN KILLED IN 35TH STREET SHOOTING

On Monday, February 27, 2023 at 9:48 p.m., Columbus Police Officers were dispatched to 35th Street near 5th Avenue in reference to a shooting. Upon arrival, responding officers found a Black male (later identified as Jeffery Smith, 36) lying near the curb suffering from a gunshot wound.

TWO ARRESTED IN SHOOTING THAT INJURED 9 CHILDREN

 Friday, February 24, 2023

Two people have been arrested one week after a shooting that left 9 children injured. D’Angelo Robinson, Sr., 35, and an unnamed 15-year-old male are in custody on aggravated assault charges. Robinson, Sr. is in the Muscogee County Jail tonight while the juvenile suspect is in custody at the Regional Youth Detention Center.
